Wild increase in RPM's when starting 850

My 1995 850 Turbo wagon has an odd problem I haven't been able to trace. On occasion, as soon as the car starts the rpms will reach 2000 to 2500 rpms for a few seconds then settles down to a normal idle. This isn't normal. My foot is NOT on the accelerator pedal either.

Any idea of why?

Thanks
tadslc

I dont know if the 850 has the idle air intake bypass solenoid or not. My 84 has one
and if it sticks open this will happen. I have a S-70 also.. not sure if it has
one... hasnt broke yet so havent had to look! ;-)

Ours did the same thing, it was a vacuum leak in one of those rubber elbows. Luckily a cheap fix when you find which one is leaking
