I have a 2000 V40 with almost 30K miles. The Michelins MXV4 appear to worn out already. Has anyone had to have the tires replaced at 30K? Also, according to Michelin's warranty, tires should be covered for 6 years. Has anyone tried the tire warranty?

The original Michelins MXV4 are only 40K tires. Mine lasted until 39K. They are a softer compound then the Continentals they used late because they are rated for a faster speed. If you live in a region that is hotter then the tires will wear faster because of the soft compound. Chances are the warranty won't cover anything because it only covers against defects and the fact that the tires wore down 5 or 10K ahead of schedule isn't really a defect.

I have about 31k miles on the original Michelins and I think I can get at least another 10k out of them before replacing all four. I did rotate the tires every 7.5k miles.

27600 and down to the indicators. I honestly do not do burnouts either. Maybe the OEM tires are seconds and are not supposed to last long. Surprisingly my brakes are no problem as others have mentioned in this forum. Go figure.

I did replace them with MXV4+ tires. I still like Michelins but have never had an original set of tires from them on ANY car to last very long. The second set always do. Maybe I drive differtly when I foot the bill for the second set !!!

What about the 6 year tire/tyre warranty from Michelin? Would that cover part of the replacement costs?

I can't answer that. Anyway since I already bought new tires it's a moot point for me. I believe I did download the warranty info once from Michelins site but either I had brain freeze or I couldn't quite decide if I was covered.
