The standard tires on the V40 are the 195's. Has anybody got the 205's? Do they fit the standard wheels?

Yes, 205 fits, *but* you'll have to use 205/55R15 and not 205/60R15 as it's too tall.

205/55R15 is one of the factory size options for the S/V40 outside the US.

Factory size summer-tire available for the S/V40 around the world are:

195/55R15 (pre-2000)
195/60R15 (later models)
205/55R15 (used to be standard on the T4 and 2.0T)
205/50R16 (current standard for T4 and 2.0T)
205/45R17 (very recently added)

Thanks. The 205/55R15 seems to be much more expensive and harder to find in the US. Do you know of any good All Season High Performance tires?

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or the Dunlop SP 5000.

I don't know if they come in these sizes though...

Probably yes. It's only marginally bigger in diameter than the 205/50R16 wheel (0.6%, 4mm total diameter difference), so I suspect it's not going to be a big problem. Speedometet may be off a little on a 1998 with these tires though (reading a little too low)

Because it's only 195 wide it also has a little more 'room' in the wheel arches.

Yes they fit. I put a set of Dunlap YK 420's on my 2001 S40 three weeks ago with no problems.
