Replacing the timing belt V70-XC70

What can I expect to pay an independent to replace the timing belt on a 1999 V70?
It's just the basic V70, no turbo or AWD. Thanks.

Replacing the timing belt V70-XC70

The 99 has a mechanical tensioner and the interval is 105K.
The mechanical tensioner was introduced in mid 98 (some late
98s have it).

A TSB at alldatadiy.com describes the replacement. I would
let a dealer do this job since you have to vary the setup
based on air temperature.

TIme wise, I think it should be close to the existing design
and people report $250 to $300 for replacement (including parts).

Depends on the labor rate where you live. Labor rates tend to be higher in large metro areas. I live in upstate NY and paid around $200 for my '94. Isn't the interval on a '99 105,000 miles?

Replacing the timing belt V70-XC70 1999

I'll have to check the interval tonight. My wife said the mechanic's helper (independent) quoted her a price of $160 and recommended it be done at 70k miles.

I was thinking you were supposed to do it at 90-105k. The car has less than 60k on it now, so there's no rush.

My '99 has a 105,000 miles replacement interval. It was 70,000 miles for '94-'98 and 50,000 in '92 and '93. I think the serpentine belt has always been 60,000 miles but would need to check the manual.
