1995 850 T5-R Wagon. SCARED TO BUY?????????? 850

Greetings-

I am interested in the 95 850 T5R wagon 103k $8,500. It is between that or a 850 T wagon 89k for $8,000. Which would be better? I have heard of so many problems with the T5R that I am afraid to buy it but would love the xtra power.
My 740 T wagon was just killed in an accident and I feel either would be a great replacement.

Any info would be appreciated. Kindest Regards-

The differences between the 850T and 850R are mostly cosmetic.

What you might have heard about is the V70R which has much-feared the AWD system, with it's hyper-expensive (and breakable) angle gear/bevel gear.

if it were a problem on a t5r...then it'd be a problem on the turbo....what kind of problems were u hearing? the suspension may be harder on t5r than turbo cause of 17" vs 16" wheels, and stiffer shocks/springs and larger sway bars.

most common were the pnp switch mentioned ealier, the ac sometimes goes at 70k (usually needs to be recharged). the suspension mounts may need replacement. the engine and turbo should usually last a long time. trim may need some attention, but which old car doesn't. just make sure it doesn't rattle, get's really annoying after a while. i'm sure there are other little things to look for.

They are virtually same cars - the only difference is the chip that produces extra 10HP, the interior with alcantara leather inserts in T5R, different front spoiler and 17 inch wheels on T5R (smaller 16 inches were optional). Just pick one you like more...(color, wheels, etc.) if they are they are in the same condition...
T5R is a more desirable car on the used car market...

      Hi,
I bought a 95 850T wagon 2 years ago~ 66k on it, had it checked out at dealer pre-purchase. It came out with flying colors so bought it.Two & 1/2 years & 180K on it, we are still very happy with it. No real problems with it; PNP switch acts up in cold weather but`s about it.
      Go for it!
      Rich.
