Which is the better car? 1998-99 T5, XC, or AWD??? Vote now... V70-XC70

Am thinking about getting a 1998 T5 because I like the 236 hp and do not go off the road ever. The XC is about 350 lbs heavier with 46 hp less and there's that problem with having to have all tires of the same age tread, age, inflation...etc... Are XCs more troublesome? Owner ratings for XCs are from "loving it" to "hating it", wheeas ratings for the T5 has been from moderately favorable to highly favorable. What you you think??? Thanks for your response...

    i vote for the awd over the xc, without knowing about the t5. as a rookie,
    the only other model/engine i'm familiar with is the r, which i didn't drive for fear i'd like it too much. but for your type of driving, the performance of this awd on the american autobon is nothing short of awesome, and the extra
    pounds (and less hp?)...what good would that do ?

    also, with all it's heavier suspension and higher ride, the xc gives back some of its clearance with 15" wheels. never understood that...guess i'm missing something.

    however, for ice and snow and 'down the drive' i'd probably be happier with an xc. mine is a real snake on slick streets ... one of many lessons learned.

      XC and AWD are the exact same cars mechanically and both should be avoided.

      The FWD T5 wins IMHO.

        avoided ??? thems fightin words. (yuk)
        would like to know what makes a T5 different.

        i'd ask at the dealership but they still haven't gotten over me buying from
        someone else, and won't talk to me. have never met a bigger bunch of prima
        donnas. like to think that Volvo o w n e r s are different.
