AT acting up again 850 1995

I have an 850 GLT with 110,000 miles on it. Just the other day when leaving work, I headed onto the interstate and the trans would not kick out of 2nd gear.
I couldn't go any faster than about 40-45 mph and the tach was reading 3,000 rpm's. I pulled over to the shoulder, shut it down, popped the hood. Smelled a little burnt smell, closed the hood and started it up. Pulled out and everything was fine. Decided to change the ATF (2nd time in 14 months). Will see if that helps any. Has anyone experienced this before?
Merry CHRISTmas to all!

Second time in 14 mos? Sounds like the second change should have been done 10 mos ago.. I changed mine after 70K miles (I'm the second owner). Then I changed it again in another 3K miles, just to get the rest of the crap out of it. Haven't had any probs since.. I think that the first flush gets most of the garbage out, but not all of it. I think you will see a definate improvement after this flush. And after all, the flush is pretty inexpensive, assuming you aren't using synthetic.

Hi Moregolf;
I should have clarified, that I bought the car with 93k miles on it last
October 2001. I immediately changed the ATF then and then just changed again
last weekend with 110k miles on it. I thought I was doing good since I have read
that alot of folks on this board change their ATF on average every 25k miles, when using Dexron3.

Re-check the ATF level, sounds like it could be a bit low...but then again you said it smelled burnt. Best of luck to you.
