Anti-theft system 850 1994

I have recently bought a 850 GLT '94. I have not instructions manual about the anti-theft system wich I suppose is of the most basic type: alarm+inmobilizer+remote.

I would like to know about the system, about the meaning of the blinks when the alarm is not yet armed, and about the meaning of the beeps that sometimes in some situations I hear (i.e. when I turn the key to stop the engine). The interior medule seems to have two leds: red and green, but I've never seen the green one lighting, what is its functionality?

I have the Haynes manual but it is not explicit about the system.

I would be pleased in getting some help. Thank very much.

If it's the Volvo factory alarm, then the light blinks slowly to indicate it's armed, then blinks rapidly if it's been activated while you were away. It doesn't have a shock sensor, only a hood/trunk and door sensor. It's not that bad though, as it will kill the starter power if the alarm is triggered. It also won't arm if doors are open when you press lock and activate the alarm.

Kalas,
Your OEM alarm is nothing more then a noise maker (seperate horn under hood) when triggered by a door, trunk or hood opening. It is not an inmobilizer. The LED on the dash will glow red when the car is first locked, then blink afterwards indicating the car is "armed" untill unlocked again. The complete instructions should be in your owners manual. The LED "pod" on the dash also doubles as a sensor for those cars equipped with automatic climate control...

I think it is an original Volvo part.

The interior leds-module is located in the frame between the driver's window and the front screen, aproximately at the same height of the driver's head.

If your system is an aftermarket, even if the dealer installed it, check here http://www.dei.com, they have user manuals, installation manuals, etc., available for download for many of the security systems. I bought a used Miata with a dealer installed security system and found everything I needed to know at this site.
