I just bought a '98 XC AWD and I need a good repair manual. Something like what VW has by 'Bentley' for their cars. Could someone recommend one and not Haynes or Chilton please.

Unfortunately it's not that simple. For repair info up through '98's you can go to ( http://www.volvotechinfo.com/ ), there you can buy paperback books for each item you want to work on, ie transmission, or engine or electrical etc. For '99 and later go to www.volvovira.com . (There is some overlap however.) The '99 and later site, is a subscription only service, like Alldata, except VERY expensive. The newer cars are so complex that you could never put all the info into one book, like my 1974 145 wgn., 315,000 mi. and still running well. Tom
