850 Passenger Temperature Control Dial 850

I just bought a used 1995 850 Turbo Wagon. The light for the passenger temperature dial is out. I checked w/the dealer and was told that the light bulb is actually built in to the part and therefore I would have to replace the entire dial mechanism, to the tune of approx $500USD for the part alone.

Has anyone heard anything about this and/or does anyone have any tips?

Whoever said that is apparently inexperienced because the bulbs can be replaced whether it's manual or electronic climate control. At our dealer, we do that often and stock the bulbs for each type.
Tell the service writer to have their parts department look them up. It's not hard to replace those bulbs either.

Thanks for your help. I will do that. If they are of no help, would I be able to contact you for assistance?
