The Glove box door on my 97 s70 will not open. Tried with key to unlock, thinking it might be locked .. noway. Anyone have any ideas to open?

This is not unusual, search the archives for details. In a nutshell, pry it open enough to saw off the bracket. Replace bracket.

Had same experience with a 94 850. Did not care to do anymore damage than necessary. Here is my solution. Measure 8 3/4" from the left side of the door and make a pencil mark and 8 3/8 from the right side and make a mark. Measure down 13/16 to 7/8 from the top of the door or 3/8 down from the bottom of the radius and drill a 1/8 hole in the door being carefull not to allow the drill to go through and damage the latch. Take a 1/16 drill bit and insert through the hole and probe lightly to unlatch. The problem in my case was a small broken stud that actuates the latch. I drilled and tapped where the stud was and inserted a screw, cut it to the proper length and WALLO the problem was resolved. As for the 1/8 hole, find a key chain or anything with a small Volvo logo, double stick it over the hole. Non-Volvo people will think it is OEM.
