What's your opinion? V70-XC70 1998

Hey guys, am a 164 nut, but I have a friend who's looking for a V70 "T series" and he's asking me what to look for. He wants something fast! So I thought I would ask since I think a 164 is fast enough for me!
thanks.

If he's willing both to wait and pay the price, tell him to have his dealer get him specs and options list from the Volvo special vehicles division for one of their V70 police packages.

Volvo speed math V70-XC70 1998

T5 = way fast
R = faster yet. Slightly. Maybe.

footnotes:
T5 is the designation for the 2.3L high pressure turbo. With the IPD/TME chip, you can get the T5 to about 280hp. Add a couple more if you get the sport exhaust.

R is standard Euro designation for 'street racer' and might have slightly improved ECU program. Also based on the 2.3L engine.

If you've got oodles of cash lying around, the new S60R will spec out to 300hp with AWD. The new S70R goes with a bigger bore 2.5L configuration. More on these newer cars at http://www.swedespeed.com

I have a 1994 850 turbo wagon. Almost same car. I find it fast. The speedometer goes to 260 KPH . Never gone over 140 KPH . Acceleration sits you back in the seat. Be carefull though. I've had this car for two years now and I've had to replace alot of parts. Parts for volvo's aren't cheap. Don't believe anyone that tells you that you can get cheap parts anywhere. Volvo seems to have the market cornered for new parts. Even so called cheap discount parts stores are not that cheap. I would say this is what scares me the most about my volvo. The car is getting older and the price of parts is keeping me poor.

Good luck

I maintain my in-laws' Taurus and part for part, I'd say they were about even.
