Winshield Washer problem 850 1993

I thought I was simply out of washer fluid, when I added more it only took about 10oz. It has been warm enough that if anything had been frozen it would have cleared up by now. My passenger side nozzle can almost hit my windshield but that is it. Any ideas before I take it apart? Thanks

If you think that the problem is your t-valve - just pop the top off, all there is inside is a small spring and a rubber disk.

If the rubber disk is damaged, a new one can be fashioned out a bit of the cuff of a dishwashing glove. See ozbrick.com for instructions & pictures if you need them.

Most likely is the check valve. It is located behind the insulation pad of the hood between the 2 nozzles. Dealer sells it for several dollars and replacement is very simple and straight forward. Mine did that too. Now, after the replacement, everything back to normal - shoot right up to the middle of the windshield.

Thanks, but why is the tank only taking a few ounces of fluid, I know my turbo takes about a gallon.

I had a problem with the washer fluid light coming on all the time. I would try to add more fluid and it would only take a drop or two. I eventually replaced the sensor, but the problem returned. After tearing into the system I discovered that there is a filter in the neck of the tank, it looks like a condom hanging down in there. This was causing the fluid to back up when I poured it in, acting like it was full, when the tank was still low. Either remove the filter, it pulls straight up out of the tank, or try pouring the fluid in very slowly. I felt rather stupid when I finally figured this out!

Could it be that you tank was still almost full. The windshield washer tank is quite big and it takes a lot (almost 1 gallon) of windshield fuild.
