Possible C70 purchase C70

I am thinking of buying a 98 C70 and trading in my 96 854. The C70 has 15,000 miles and was a one owner. It is in great shape, with the exception of the sunroof not being aligned properly. The dealer wants 21K for the car. While I think this is fair, I would like a second opinion as well as any major problems to look for before committing to the purchase. Thanks in advance.

The 98 SVC70's had some peculiar problems, notably headlights and turn indicators (fixed in recalls; check with the dealer to see that this was done), faulty ABS units that crack at 50-80K miles (replacements are of higher quality), some other oddities. The price seems high, but the mileage is low (really only 15K? That's less than 4K per year of driving!)

Nice car. Since only 2,000 per year were sold, this may be as close to a collector's edition as you'll get from a late model Volvo.

price seems up there for one that doesn't qualify for 6year/100K C70

certified waranty.

Seriously, you ought be able to find a '99 for about that price if you're willing to look (though it may have more miles, a lot more miles on it, 22K is really low for a '98)

the '99 and newer get the 6 year (from date of service) and out to 100K waranties - if they're certified at a volvo dealer. I would try and hold out for a certified car at that price (dealer should know he's competing with the certified cars) meaning a '99 or newer.

but buying a car isn't all logic, if you love the car and want it - and can afford it, bu it.
