odometer? 850

my 93 850's odometer stopped working, but the speedometer still does. Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it? Please let me know...thank you.

There is a little gear in the odometer assembly. A tooth has sheared. I think that it is a common problem. Mine did the same thing. Nobody would sell me this 10 cent gear. The dealership wanted to put in a new odometer plus a sticker that said that the mileage wasn't actual.

I found a shop in Austin that would rebuild the odometer for $100. I removed the cluster ( Bay13) and disassembled it ( lots of screws ). The odo unplugs from the circuitboard. I mailed off the odometer. When it came back I reversed the procedure. So, time $100 and a little skin was the cheapest fix that I could do.

You are right about the little gear and the guy you're looking for in Austin, TX is Rick Borth of Overseas Speedometer (www.speedometer.com) 1-800-444-0292. My 94 850 Turbo's odometer did the same thing. Rick was very kind, coaching me over the phone how to take the odometer out and check it. I then sent it off to him and it was back to me within the week working...all for about 100 bucks, shipping included.

Could be a broken plastic gear inside unit.

My 240's odometer died along with the cruise control (speedo still worked okay) and it was the ic chip inside unit that got fried.
