Would this be a "back-yard mechanic" replacable item?
thanks,
bill

This is not a hard job at all and those slight noises in the front end will magically disappear. While you are there, replace the sway bar connecting link too. They are about $30.00 max.

I did this replacement recently on the passenger side. On our model year (94) there is no ball joint replacement. You have to replace the whole control arm which includes the ball joint. Find it where I bought mine at http://www.eeuroparts.com for $64.90 with shipping free. This is much much cheaper than I found it anywhere else. The procedure isn't so bad, but remember that you have to do a front end alignment after you replace it.

If you're here inquiring about it, you can definitely do it. The Haynes manual walks you through it. I was unable to pry the control arm off the ball-joint without unbolting the arm. Let us know if you need any help.

My uncle terry could swap this if he was in a treehouse.

I could swap it... in a fully equipped shop with lots of time on my hands.
