AM Radio static after battery change 850 1997

I had the battery checked (almost 5 years on the original battery) and the NTB tech recommended replacing. Got a new battery, and noticed that the AM radio has a lot of static. The static increases as you rev up or pick up speed in the car. Any ideas what they did not do, for I didn't have any static prior to the battery change. Thanks for any advice you may have.

It sounds like a bad ground to me. I'd investigate the connection. Try re-installing the battery, making sure the grounding connections aren't corroded or otherwise restricted/damaged.

Thanks. Some more details. The static goes away when I have the key in position I - engine is off, but radio is on. Static comes right back, as I start the engine.

Regarding the grounding, what am I specifically looking for? I did a visual inspection, and it looks like all the cables coming out of the terminal wires look OK. If you could please point me somewhere (website / manual) where I can see a picture of the grounding connection, that would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

This might sound crazy and it might not help you at all, but I will not be able to pickup any AM stations when I have my cell phone charger plugged into the cig light. When I unplug the charger I will not have any problems with AM stations....
