All of you who whine and complain about your 850...

I´m not suprised , I read the same things every day.

Someone says: " Ive got a 1995 T5 , its really fast and fun to drive"

Then thay comlain about things that need replacement... ahh volvo is baaaad ?

My god, from what planet are you from?

Ofcourse your car will break, when you drive so hard and push your car to the limit..

Most of the threads here that deals with oil leaks are with cars with turbo in it... Well, ofcourse your engine will leak oil if there´s to much pressure in it....

Sorry but there are more problems with high pressure turbos, than there are with N/A engines , go figure out why and do the math... :)

So stop complaining , you cant expect your car to just stay OK , when you drive it mostly for fun (hard driving)

I drive my car for safety and becase i need a good car , and guess what ...

The car has been good to me.....

// ermik - 1998 S70 2,5 SE 90k miles - 1992 850 GLT 130k miles (no turbo) - Both on their original auto trannys, original ECC/AC , nice to drive , no leaks , no nothing , just pleasure and reliability...

Respones please... :)

oh , btw , I live in sweden , so we have shifting weather , with pretty cold winters , and hot summers .....

All of you who whine and complain about your 850...

Now people seem to missunderstand me ...

Im wery happy this forum exist , and I also understand it's purpose.

But what I'm trying to say is that those who whine ( not those who come for help) do need to think about how they treat their cars.

And , yes i have no clue acctually about how a turbo works and how it affects the pressure inside the engine. So youre right and im wrong..

But pressure or not , a car with a turbo is more likely to be the victim of hard driving and therefore more likely to get problems?

You get my point?

Dont bother the details as long as the message is understood?

Did they make a 1992 850? maybe in europe?, but if its a 93 850 and you have 130,000 miles on the transmission you should take it out and put it on ebay, Its got to be worth money because its the only one.

it is not to whine. this site exists so we can help each other. those that had encountered similar problems with their cars can suggest fixes. sure there would be some frustration, etc. if something is broken....human nature, i guess. brickster dont just sit and whine. they sit, whine, then do something about it. i for one has found a lot of invaluable help here, saved a lot of $$ too because now, i can go to my mechanic and have a pretty good idea what the problem is and not just swallow everything he says because i did not know any better.
regards

One would think people "whine" here just because all you see here is posted problems and complaints but that's only because they CAN do that here. They have a captive audience here who also own FWD/AWD Volvos so those people can also relate. The RWD forum here looks similar, just with older cars but not much different in the "whine" department really.
As for turbos and oil leaks, the turbo 850 oil leaks don't really have anything to with its "high pressure" as that term only applies to the boosted air pressure, NOT oil or crankcase pressures. The #1 turbo oil leak, the drain tube o-ring is under LOW pressure and leaks due to poor quality of the rubber used. As for rear main seals, those eventually leak in both turbo and NA 850s (like ALL cars really) and also has nothing to do with the turbos "high pressure".

thanks....he needed that...my turbo leaked, I was too stupid to fix this relatively simple problem myself and payed a mechanic too much money to fix it...learning more every day...thanks
