Leaking coolant after thermostat change V70-XC70

All I did was change the thermostat and o-ring. Now I have a coolant leak on the right forward side of the car. It seems to leak only when its cold. I have to refill the coolant bottle every couple of days. The low coolant warning light comes on during acceleration when its time to fill it up again. Guess the next thing to do is have the system pressure tested. What could cause a leak after doing such a simple task?

I hope that tightening the hose clamp solves the problem. If not, the o-ring is split and should cover the top and bottom edge of the thermostat.

Is it leaking from the t-stat housing or somehwere else? Could the upper hose have gotten damaged when you were doing this? I guess you need to pinpoint the leak and address it.

      False Alarm V70-XC70 1998

OK, I found out where the leak was. Looks like I didn't tighten the upper radiator hose onto the engine fitting tight enough. Duh!? I used a screwdriver to tighten it at first which obviously wasn't tight enough. But then I got a socket onto to it and tightened it properly. Everythings cool... Now I gotta flush and fill the coolant with the ex$pen$ive Volvo stuff.

      Thanks folks

on the volvo coolant! Just get the red GM dexcool at any autozone for $8.99.
The volvo "special coolant" theory is a bunch of crap. Its just like the food store label to a "brand name". Volvo does NOT have its own coolant factory line!
Now on "parts", its a different story.
