Help on sub Frame bushings S80

I am told by the local dealer's shop that the clunk I am hearing form my car is the sub frame bushings. They say it can be fixed with adding ome "O" rings for about $140. I have also heard in this forum that they can be lubricated. Is this correct and if so where are the bushings located?

Help on sub Frame bushings S80

I have a 1999 S80. After SEVERAL trips to the dealership for warranty service (lube) on my frame bushings my dealer decided to change the bushing. They were unsuccessful at removing the bushing even when using the volvo supplied tool and ultimatley replaced the whole arm, thankfully under warranty. This did however solve the problem. Good luck

Help on sub Frame bushings S80

This was a WELL DOCUMENTED issue for the S80. There's either a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) or a full blown recall for the famous O-ring fix (Volvo went through a few iterations before they settled on a final design). Check around in the archives here for full description. I don't think you should have to pay for this fix but if your car is out of warranty and this is a TSB and not a recall you might be out of luck.
