I PASSSED I PASSED I PASSED!!!!!! 850

Sorry it's kinda long and boring.

In my 4 month 3 day journey to get my car titled in my home state I finally have the happy ending I have been looking for.

Bought the car in AZ drove home non-stop 22.5 hours.

Bank called me 45 days after I returned home, they still have not received the title. The title was lost in the mail, dealer sent out duplicate title.

Went to DMV to transfer title, the dealership forgot to sign off on the duplicate title. Sent back title to be released.

Went to DMV with title, need emmisions certificate. Went to have car tested, failed some abstract code in the system, NO MIL on and all readiness codes said ready.

Had codes reset, found out that 96 was bad year for readiness codes to reset themselves. The indy shop I dealt with said they would rather fix cars than drive them for 3-4 hours with no guaranty that the codes will reset. They gave me the infamous drive cycle TSB, consequently it was not the correct one. This board came through though and some kind soul posted the correct process.

Went out with the directions in hand and attempted to do the tests solo, not a good idea. Went out with a friend and he watched the rpm on the scan tool and ran the stop watch. Near the end of the second cycle the stupid MIL came on. Read the codes and had a secondary air injection fault, bad air pump and SAS valve. Replaced both thanks to BAY 13.

After repair SRS light came on. Oh the hammer was looking pretty attractive now. No clue what is up with that system.

Took the car and got the codes to be ready went to get emmisions test, failed, stupid SRS light illuminated so it failed the safety part of the test, purely a sight check.

Went home and pulled that stupid bulb out and had to redo the drive cycles, disco battery for safety while messing with SRS.

Everything went well, have ready codes and no other lights show on dash. got the certificate, went to DMV, transfered title, the car is now mine.

It only took 3 temp tags, countless wasted hours and $1000 in tools and parts.

Anyone want to buy it now?

Just kidding my wife would kill me.

Congratulations!

As someone who last month flew out to buy a Volvo and drive it 20 hours home I can say; We could all just go down to the local used car lot, buy a Cavalier and not put up with all this crap.

This Volvo thing must be a passion. Either that or we're all crazy. Now I have two in the driveway (one for sale) and I can't imagine owning anything else. I'm 44 and have owned Fords, Nissans, a Dodge, and now Volvo. They just make the most sense to me.

AWW do we have to be Crazy? 850

Volvo- the sportiest family car around.

I still like my first, 1989 Volvo 760 Turbo. I am keeping it even though the insurance CO list's it as a total, $1500 and it will be fine. It has 170K and still can burn the rice out of a Honda. The 850 is fine for the wife but I like RWD.

Volvo for life.

My "new" '88 745t has 185,000 miles on it and it's the reason I'm selling my 855t. A great car that's easy to work on, the 745t has very little in the way of electronic cellulite (systems checking systems checking systems... "what's that light mean? $$$) and with the M46 manual, loads of fun to drive. My IPD swaybars will be here tomorrow and as soon as I fix the water leak in the left footwell I'll be racking up more miles.

Regards,
