16inch or 17inch? S70

I am thinking of putting either 16 or 17 inch wheels on my 98 S70. I am specifically looking to put a wider tire on, and while currently I am running Potenza S-03 205/55/15, I was hoping for a little more traction from larger wheels/tires. Does anyone know how big you can really go with 16x6.5 stock Volvo rims? I imagine on the 17x7inch rims, 225/40 or 225/45 is about as big as possible. I am trying to avoid any rubbing on the inner wells. If anyone knows the answer, please let me know. Also, does anyone know a good place to find stock Volvo rims without the astronomical dealer price? Thanks for all of the help.

you can get the the "volans" 17" for EXTREMELY attractive prices from www.aaarims.com <-- I've never shopped with them, so this is not a recommendation of any sort I just remember seeing good deals there on Volans in the monthly specials section....

$800 a set, no center caps.. which I assume you already have anyway.

I see OEM Volvo wheels on ebay, at recyclers, and at wheel repair outfits. All of these options seem a little cheaper than a dealer but you're not getting brand new either. Dealers sometimes have specials. I have 16" rims on mine with 205/50 series tires. My preference would be to not go any less than a 50 series to keep some semblance of a decent ride. I really don't think you can go much wider than 215 without rubbing although I haven't tried it.
