Does anyone know where you can get a good price on oil filters, preferably internet? Also, this is the first turbo I've owned. Normally aspirated engines I've used Castrol Syntec Blend. Would this be sufficient or would full synthetic be needed? Thanks.

I get my filters from volvo and use mobil1, make sure you buy the filter tool before attempting to change the oil. On the turbo it is absolutely impossible to remove the filter cartride assembly without this tool.

Use full synthetic and make sure you get the correct oil filter. Your car uses a filter cartridge where the plastic cannister is reused with a new gasket. These filter elements have been used since certain '99 models (T5) and aren't as plentiful as the old style filters. I bought some at Ipd.

Bought a case of 10 filters for 44.95 off of EBAY. Not bad. The Europarts.com site had the filters on backorder with no idea when they were coming in. Thanks all for the info.

Well, you've got a few bucks into this machine. Why scrimp on oil. The Castrol Syntec Blend is probably OK, but I wouldn't use anything but an excellent full synthetic (AMSOIL comes to mind, then Mobil 1).
