recently i have only been able to get 390 kilometers per full tank of gold gas, this coincides with winter starting and cleaning of my K&N air filter.

My question is: is it possible that i may have over oiled the air filter, or is this the average of what others are getting during the winter months.

The engine has been well taking care of, and a tune up done in the summer.

Any input is greatly appreciated

    Geez.. I am getting the a little bit more 430km but I have CE light on.. bad O2 (435 error) or bad vacuum.. After reading the responses.. getting almost 700km on the tank I guess I need to replace something.. I thought it was my driving habits.. My tailpipe has the carbon deposits and I know its been burning abit rich. Time for me to get this fix especially since gas prices are 82cents a liter.

    Is you tail pipe black? Could be you O2 sensor....mixing rich

    Is you temp guage at the 3 o'clock setting when warm? If not change out your thermostat.

    I'd say you have something seriously wrong there. I get about 550 km. on a tank in mixed city/highway driving. Of course this is in a Texas winter, where the temperature is usually between 5 and 20 centigrade. My gas mileage is pretty constant even when driving in winter in Colorado.

    My car is completely stock, no aftermarket filters or anything like that.

    In Colorado my 850R SW will get 350mi city and 410 highway between fillups. Stock air filter.

      Lots of things affect fuel mileage. Bad spark plugs, clogged air filters, improper tire inflation, the way you drive, etc. I have noticed with colder temps that my milegae drops quite dramatically. Has something to do with molecules in gasoline being cold versus hot. That's why in summer my mileage is always better. Make sure you don't have a leak though. On average I get about 365mi city (584KM) and about 425mi (680km) highway. (5 speed manual)
