Removing auto trans/ Hours of labor? 850

I believe I have heard before that it takes around 10 hours of labor to remove
the automatic transmission. What I was not sure of was whether they said 10 hours to remove and replace or 10 hours on each end.

See my other comment in your other trans thread above. The reman Volvo trans costs $1,600 and the shop labor (Chiltons/Motor book time) is 10 hours total Xs their labor rate (depends on shop/area).
As mentioned here, DO also have the rear engine crankshaft seal replaced at the same time as you won't want to pay 10 hours more labor to have that done later.

5 hours each way. The engines subframe needs to be removed and steering rack needs to be taken off subframe. Axles need to come out, and all steering components (ball joints) need to be removed.

I 100% agree about the rear main while it is out. Have them inspect your flywheel as well while they're in there.

Remove and replace.

While they're in there, get them to do the rear main seal, too. It's a $30 part, and adds only an extra .5 hour labor. My dealer actually suggested it be done, and IMHO that's good PM.
