Synthetic Type 850 1995

I have a '95 850 T5 chipped with 173k. I've always used Mobil Full Synthetic 10W30. I've noticed they have other types. Is this the best grade or should I use 0w30 or 15w50?

I'm looking at an 850 r with 118,000 on it. How has your car hadled after having 178,000 on it. Anything I need to be aware of?

I have the IPD ECU program in my S70 GLT. In the past, I have run M1 10W30 for many years in many cars and it has been fine. Right now I am running Amsoil 0W30. This is fine too. This plus the synthetic AT fluid gave me +2 MPG city over the M1. I plan to do oil analysis to see how the oil is holding up. I am in Texas as well.

I have used Mobil 1 Synthetic 10-30 exclusively in all our vehicles since 1989.

That's all I use in my 1995 Turbo 850.

You could go with the 15-50 weight if you are in a hot climate and drive the car very hard a lot of the time.

I live in hot and humid Houston- 10-30 Mobil 1 is good 12 months a year for me!

Yup. I'm with you guys. In Austin, I use 10W-30 year round in my turbo.

I've used only Mobil 1 in my cars since 1974, when I ran spectroscopic analysis on five different oils in my Audi.

I use Mobil One 10w-30 all year round here in South Florida in my 850 Turbo, thats all I use too. As well as the Mobil One M1-204 filter, its a little longer than the M1-104 and easier to grab and offers a little bit more filter area. If you're getting good oil pressure with the 10w-30 thats what I'd stick with then. Too thick of a viscosity will trigger filter bypass at mid to high rpms and thats where you drive most often. The 5w or 10w-30 weight oils provide good flow characteristics and plenty of protection without hitting the filter's bypass (flow resistance) pressure.

Mike
