Driver's door lock/key assembly question. 94 850 850

Due to an accident, we're having to replace the smashed in driver's door on our 94 850 Volvo. It had the power lock/unlock key chain thing. My question is, with the new door, what about the lock assembly? Will we have to have a new key made for the new door and will it still able to unlock the other doors automatically. The damaged door was totally demolished and the lock assembly is not intact. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hi Susan,

Sorry for the bad news first. Your question can be both yes and no.

Depending where you are aquiring the new locking mechanism depends if new keys are needed. If from the dealer then the car VIN (vehicle Identification number) can be matched your current key set, which i just did last week as one of my key barrels broke.

If you are including remote-access there is no reason for this not to works as there is only once receiver if i recall centrally located.
