Power door lock switch light dead S40-V40 2000

Hello,

The light on the power door lock switch on my 2000 S40 does not light up anymore.
Is it possible to replace the light bulb inside the switch? Do I need to replace the whole switch? How do I take the switch out?

Thank you for your help.

Johan

Johan,

You will need to replace the whole switch, as the light is integrated into the cicuitry of the switch. In order to replace it, you will need to take off the outer molding. You can do this by carefully putting a small flat head screw driver between where the top and bottom molding meet on the console and slowly prying the bottom one out toward you. Once you have it off, the rest will be apparent to you. **Be very careful when prying off the molding. Do not force it**

Good luck and if you have any other questions, please let me know.

PDAVEY,

Thanks for the tips. So you mean the outer molding is just a cover and it can pop out? I tried what you suggested -- I pushed the switch to the 'door locked' position and iserted a small screw driver at the bottom of the molding. I used a little force but could not get it to pop out so I stopped. Did I do it right?

Thanks again.

Johan

No I meant the trim (either faux wood or I believe grey) around the whole console between the upper and lower parts.
