Cups holders.... 850

Hey Bricksters,

Got a question for ya, did Volvo not think that people drink and drive? No I dont mean drunk! I have an 88 765ti and a 855T and neither one has any type of cup holder. I do occasionaly have a beverage in the car and would like somewhere to put it becides in the other seat. What have you guys and gals done to make this work?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

94 855t no mods as of yet, 765ti K & N cone with heatsheild, MBC, Mobile 1 all the way!

I went through the same thing. After a little research, I went with the following:
http://www.seriousauto.com/interior-accessories/cupholder/cupholder.htm

It says it's for a Miata, but it worked just fine in my 850. I installed one on each door. Takes a little getting used to having the drink on my left, but a lot better solution than the standard Volvo issue!

I've seen cupholders that you attach to the door. They fold up when you don't need them. They're similar to the ones attached to the seats in a Toyota Sienna. Not cheap though, about $50 each.

IPD has cup holder for the 700 series that drops into your center console for $14.95.

European automobile manufacturers were slow to realize that we in the US eat and drink while we drive.

They held on to the belief that driving was an experience that takes all of your attention.

as i recall it it was first considered a safety issue
in my S70 i do have cupholders in the armrest though
in my 850 i donīt...

as I live in Sweden , I also agree with the safety thinking volvoīs always had.

Airbag technology knowledge dont make cars safe
Knowledge from real life accident does....

The 850 has a cup holder that slides out of the arm rest.
(The problem with it is it leaks any moisture on top of the
window switches and it is kinda wimpy.)

IPD sells a clip-on cup holder for the door that looks pretty good.

Sounds like what my 98 V70 has. Any advice on a source to replace a broken wimpy pull out?

Sorry, I don't. I actually banned all eating and drinking
in my car. The kids hate me now :)
