1994 850 Burning Fuel after Timing Belt Change 850

I recently replaced the timing belt on my 1994 850. After the change, my MPG decreased to 16 and the car started blowing black smoke constantly. If I was a tooth off (possible) could that explain what I'm seeing?

if you installed the belt wrong the car would have a driveablilty problem. Poor acceleration, rough idle misfiring, etc. but since you see black smoke and your gas mileage is down,it obviously is running too rich, did you look at your plugs, are they fouling.

The car runs strong. When I changed the timing belt, I also changed the plugs. I looked at the plugs shortly after and they were fouled. Could the plugs I installed be the problem?

sounds like the car is running very rich, maybe an air mass meter problem. did you pull any codes from the a-2 socket, i doubt the new plugs are the cause of any of your problems. what plugs did you use, bosch or volvo?
