Possible front wheel bearing gone bad?

Have had a low whirring from front passenger wheel that completely dependent on speed of vehicle(1997 850GLT 115K). Tires need replacing but I rotated just to see if sound would disipate and it did lessen. tire from noisy side quite a bit more worn than the the other(driver's). Front bearings are $140.00 each and supposed to last life of car. has anyone else had similar symtpoms and found a bad front wheel bearing?

Thnaks
