98 V70GLT window switch problem V70-XC70

My passenger side window won't go down. inop from master switch and door switch. I was reading posts on window switches. Do I repair/replace master? Does the master switch problem prevent the individual door switch from operating? Thanks in advance.

Joe

If you can operate the passenger side window using it's individual switch, then the master is likely bad. My service department changes them on the service drive (read they change them a LOT).

Now on my third master switch in 60K miles of operation. Love the car, hate the idiotic little things like that.

Sorry - I guess I misread your post.

If the passenger window cannot be operated by either the master switch or the passenger door switch, I would guess it's something other than the master switch going bad.

Typically when the master switch is failing the affected window will only operate from the master switch in one direction only, or not at all. It works fine from it's individual switch.

Do you hear the motor at all from any switch location or position? Could be a jam, loose wire on the motor, bad motor, etc.
