Replacing solenoid valves in AT 850

Apparently there are four solenoid valves in the 850's AT. They are as follows:
Solenoid valve "SL"= Regulates torque converter lock-up.
" " "S1"= Controls shifting.
" " "S2"= " "
" " "STH"= Controls transmission line pressure.

I am experiencing a hard, jolting start-up from 1st gear when the light turns green. I give it gas and then it pause for 1-2 seconds and then lurches forward.
I thought I might replace the two solenoid valves, "S1" & "S2" which may alleviate this problem. Has anyone ever done this and can I do it without removing the trans?

Thanks!

You need to lower the front half of the subframe to remove the valve body while supporting the eng/trans assembly. It's not really a difficult job IMO.
Will replacing those solenoids help? Don't know as you're guessing. It might be worth the gamble vs spending $1,600 plus labor to replace the trans otherwise. I assume you've flushed the ATF?
