Brake 'clunk' 850

I hear a noise that I think is from the front end. When I depress the brake pedal there is an audiable clunk noise just prior to the brake engaging. I can reapeat the noise by releasing the pedal and re-engaging it. It sounds like a loose brake pad that clunks forward when brake is applied? Anyone ever had this happen and what is the cure? My front pads and rotors were new 5000k ago.

Thanks

I had that problem with aftermarket brake pads as well. I would hear a clunk when I would drive over small bumps. I don't think I have an anti-squeel spring on the front pads, only on the back. What I did was just loaded the back of the pads up with that anti-squeek ooze (for lack of a better term) and that stopped the pad from moving up and down in the caliper, also stopped the squeeking pads.

GF.

Did the replacement pads have the 3 prong clip that inserts into the inner caliper piston??

Is the anti-rattle spring in place? Don't know if that could cause it but it's a place to start.
