Transmission slipping S80 2000

Has anyone else had this problem: when shifting from reverse to drive the transmission seems to slip causing a delay followed by minor wheel hop when it hooks up? Is this normal or should I have the dealer look at it. 47K miles
Thanks,
bob

Sounds like its time for another transmission. You need to get to your dealer immediately to ensure that warranty picks up the $6,000.00 tab for the transmission replacement.

Unfortunately the next transmission will be on your tab, so you should seriously consider investing in an extended service contract BEFORE your Volvo warranty expires. Once your Volvo warranty expires, your cost and coverage options are limited.

I wish I could tell you that the transmission problem is unusual, however based on the four transmissions that have been in my S80, I'd have to say that you're lucky that this is your first replacement. In my experience the rebuilt transmissions from General Motors are not good quality either.

    Good luck.

Just be asking you already know that isn't normal. Since you are still in warranty I would get it into the dealer ASAP and start documenting each and everything they do and say about it. If the transmission is 'hitting' hard enough to cause wheel spin you will have trouble down the road for sure.
