adding an aux input to the sc-815 cd changer port 850 1996

Has anyone had any luck adding an aux input in place of a cd changer to their factory head unit? Ideally i'd love to be able to plug my ipod into a couple of female rca leads, and then somehow turn that signal into a male mini din 8 pin plug. Does this sound familiar to anyone out there, or am I drunk?

This sounds totally feasable to me. I am assuming you want to play 40 gig of mp3s through the stereo.

My 'godzilla' home stereo has a dvd/cd running through a '70s Harmon Kardon 300w receiver and a pair of Radio shack speakers with the 15" woofers and satelite speakers.

If using the headphone output on the puter, set the volume at the lowest and slowly increase until you get a power match.

I am considering a similar setup since I was quoted $450cdn for the remote Alpine cd player. Exactly how many mp3 players can I get for that?

I guess I should add a caveat. SSMBR (some soldering may be required).
