Solid brake pedal 400 1986

Hi can anyone help?
I heard a pop which was fairly loud ( like a cork comming out of a bottle ) then my brake pedal went solid with barly any movment. The brakes still work but require a lot ore pressure to activate the system.
at the same time my revs have increased upto around 1500/2000 a quick depression of the accelerator and it drops to the normal around 800/1000..

regards Phil (uk )

Oh well no one answered but I thought I would tell those of you what happened.
the pipe leading from the rear of the engine and the servo unit had become disconected. simple realy but to one who is not mechanicaly minded an achievement all the same.

must say was disapointed in the group as no one answered my request.

regards Phil
