Problems Adjust Headlights 1998 S70 S70

Just had two new headlights installed. I'm able to adjust one of them and level it off (as per the bubble in the level). The other one doesn't seem to be adjusting at all vertically. I've turned the plastic adjusting screw but to no avail. Perhaps the adjusting screw got disconnected from the light? Is this possible? Any suggestions of how to get into the actual light to fix this.

You may have to remove and reinstall the headlight bucket to make sure the adjustment spline/gear has meshed properly. Hopefully this is all that's wrong.

To remove:
-open hood, locate the tab on the corner light, depress tab and remove corner light.
-lift cap on headlight wiper, remove spline nut, remove wiper arm
-remove the three 13mm? that hold the headlight assembly in
-finally, ease out the headlight assembly, inspect adjusting mechanism

Also, there is a rubber connector inside the headlamp that sometimes becomes loose during shipping.
I had that happened to a headlamp I received. You have to remove the assy and the bulb to get access inside the lamp to re-attach the rubber isolator or at the worst case scenario, remove the lens.

If it is like the lights on the 850, the reflector is mounted on small baal and sockets so it can move. I had the reflector come loose on mine. Remove the clips holding the lens on, and see if it has come loose.

Problems Adjust Headlights 1998 S70 S70

I've had the same issue on my S70 and my V70 XC. Chances are it's the ball and socket as previously mentioned. An easy way to check is to remove the square bulb cover and look in side (you'll see the adjustment screw).

If it's disconnected you'll need to pull the headlamp out to snap it back in place, or a small and strong set of hands ;)

Good luck!
