Hi guys & girls,
As per promised, I have taken some pictures of my auto-dimming rearview mirror that I installed yesterday at Don Docksteader Volvo in Vancouver, BC. The installation did cost more than expected, but it was worth it.
Check out my re-designed website:

Cool pictures, enginge bay is cleaner than my dining room table. Just one question. I have tires simular to yours. On one of the pics, (front turning) it's as though tire should be mounted other way around? Ie velocity/rain groove v-shape should go v-shape or head first as it rotates to the ground dispersing the rain away, no?
Cheers...

Hi Kenny,
Since you had the mirror installed by dealer and you have a digital camera, can you take some pictures under the dash for people who want to install the mirror themselves ?
Can you remove the driver side plastic kick panel and then take a couple pictures about the "yellow" big connector from the driver side foot well pointing up. There are 3 big connectors with lots of wires going into them. The yellow one is the one in the middle (I believe in S70). One of the 3 wires (Blue) of the mirror goes into this yellow connector Pin 1. Then looks for a small 8 pins connector near the A-pillar area which only has 2 wire on one end and 8 (or less) wires on the other end. That is another connector which the other 2 mirror wires (Black and Brown/Orange) go into.
If you can find them and take pictures of them, that will definitely help people who want to install the mirror themselves without asking their dealer to do it.
Thanks,
Ching-Ho Cheng

Kenny,
I'd love to have a rear view like that for my 2000XC.
What is the part #? I think I'll have better luck if I am armed with that number when I arrive at the parts counter.
Thanks, looks great!

Kele',
I am not sure whether it would fit your '00 XC because on the box, it only states that it is for '98 to '00 S70 & V70 only. If the XC interior is the same as the '00 V70, at least around the rearview mirror area, then I guessed
it won't be a problem.
Here is the part number : 9464006
Good Luck !

I installed one of these on my 2000 XC a few months ago. It was a pretty easy installation, except for having to stand on your head under the driver's dash. The mirror works well, except it took me a bit to get used to, because it is very dark when it dims. It sure beats the glare in your eyes though!

Chip,
I just took off the overhead cover on my 2000XC. I don't see where the mirror electrics would plug in. How did you get power to your mirror?
Thanks for your help.

The power cables run across the headliner, down the A-piller, and then under the dash. As for which line does what, I'm not sure. I'll have to check the installation sheet to see, but I don't think they identify which line is which.
Let me know if you need any more info.

I believe that you get the power under the dash. The mirror comes with a long cable (3 wires) allows you to route it thru the driver side visor then down the A-pillar and then to the terminal connectors for power and control.

Hi,
Since you had installed one yourself in a XC 2000, do you know the name/purpose of those 3 wires : Blue, Brown/Orange and Black ? I would like to install this mirror in a 850 and need to figure which wire connects to where ?
Thanks,
