Want more info about T5 engine with manual transmission V70-XC70 2003

I recently purchased a Volvo V70, T5 with manual transmission. The owner's manual is short on advise about the T5 turbo engine. I'm wanting to know some details about how the turbo operates, how it functions at different speeds. I'd like information about recommended RPMs for shifting the manual transmission, etc. I've contacted Volvo customer support, but they had no information or references. Anyone have ideas about where I find this information?

You must be very lucky to find a manual t5 in the usa. Mine runs good from around 3000 rpm until the rev limiter kicks in. My question is how to keep it under control and not attract too much attention from the law.

My dealer was more than happy to take my order (had to wait nearly two months) for a 5-speed v70 T5. It's no BMW (driving/shifting wize) but it still a great drive nonetheless (better than a nissan).

One of the reasons I wanted the 5-speed is specifically due to the "turbo-lag". Although I test drove the v70 T5 auto (which was a pretty good drive in it of itself), I prefer a 5-speed to "manage" the lag - this way I can better control engine speed (RPM) relative to vehicle speed (MPH) and manage the appropriate amount of torque for the given situation. I often find with auto/turbos, the power is not there when you need it. to drive a turbo car properly, you really need total control of engine speed which can only be found in a 5-speed/6-speed manual tranny.

      Now if I could only trade the T5 for a v70R... ;-)

Thanks for your insight. I also waited two months for my V70. The only thing I don't like is the front wheel drive and steering. It just isn't very nimble. The turning radius is much less than what I've had in the past. My last car was a Mercedes E320 wagon, and the only thing I miss is the effortless handling.

      Roger:

I ordered the T5 with the manual transmission. Without a moonroof. I think they thought I was nuts. Who needs a hole in the roof that will eventually leak? Anyway, I am baffled why there is no information available about the turbo operation and recommended rpm's for shifting, etc. You have any leads?
