Question about installation of rotors 850 1997

For those of you that have done this I hope you can shed some light on this for me. The mechanic at my dealer told me that when installing rotors on the vehicle, there is a mark on the rotor and on the hub that are hard to see, but need to be lined up to keep proper balance, otherwise there may exist a problem of wheel balance if the rotor marks and hub marks are not properly lined up.

I've looked at the rotors and to me they seem easy enough to remove and replace. Can anyone clear this up? Down the road I will need to change the rear rotors and pads. I would like to do it myself.

Thanks in advance

Rick in Denver

    I have a guide pin/screw on the hub 850 1993

Here is how my rear disks are. I have not done the front yet.

There is a guide pin/screw that aligns the disk to the hub. After mounting the disk the guide pin/screw is screwed through the disk to the hub.

I am not sure you year would be the same.

Question about installation of rotors 850 1995

I've done the front rotors and pads myself recently and I never heard of the mark between the hub and rotors ????? Even Bay13 has never mentioned anything about a mark. There is a pin that is screwed from the rotor to hub to stop the rotor spining, that is. The things I encountered was that

    1) the inner surface of the rotor was rusted so bad that it "sticked/glued" to the hub. I had to used a 3lbs hammer to knock the rotor loose.
    2) the retainer spring was a bit tough to put back onto the caliper, just be patient.

Otherwise, everything was straight forward as described in Bay13.

You can look at the Bay13's for the brake rotor/pad replacement procedure.
