Anyone have any Idea??? I have a 93' 850 GLT, bought it used and has been a creat car so far. I have one small problem, when I have the air recyling button turned off, we can smell exhuast fumes in the car. This happens with either the AC running or the heat on, but mainly when the car is stopped. It happend everywhere, even in my driveway, so I know its not just the fumes of other cars around me like at a stop light or something. Can anyone give me any advice on how to fix this problem?? Its a little embarassing, especially when I have passengers... Thanks in advance for any help :-)

    i had same problem...mechanics thought the engine may have been running rich...but that should've been going to the cabin. then they all tried to say it was something wrong with the ac and stuff... had to finally get the master tech to look at it... took them a whole week to find the problem.


    turns out, it was a loose crankcase hose...and it was aimed directly at the ac vents. problem solved. hope it's as simple as that.

    On my 94 it turned out to be the small 5" hose that feeds the fuel rail on the passenger side. It didn't look split or anything while on but after replacing it and inspecting, had many tiny splits along it. Odor hasn't occured since.

    BTW, dont buy that hose at the stealer ($22), napa or pep boys should carry it for under $5. Also, I have heard somewhere along the line (factory manual?) that it isn't good to drive for extended periods of time w/ recirculation active.

    I have the same problem with my 850. Took it to the mechanic and was told there was no problem with the exhaust (exhausts in 850s are like bulletproof!) Can't seem to find what the problem is or where the smell is coming from. Flame tower perhaps?
