AllData DIY Manuals V70-XC70 1999

I just received $300 worth of Volvo factory Manuals, but that's only about half of what you could spend on the danged things. Plus, there are no hard copy manuals that cover the 1999 computer system or variable valve timing.. On top of that, the Volvo factory manuals are written with the assumption that you are using the factory diagnostic equipment, so there is no way to know what you can expect to diagnose with generally available diagnostic tools, and what you can only do with the Volvo proprietary tools.

I am thinking about buying an AllData DIY subscription ($24.95/year for the first car. $14.95/year for each additional car). Has anyone out there used the AllData manuals? Is the DIY manual the same as the Pro manual, but just limited to a single vehicle? I think most independent shops use the AllData Pro system, so it must be pretty good. I really don't need more manuals that say "take it the dealer".

Goo info on AllData, $25 is very cheap for what you get V70-XC70 1999

I use AllData manual. It is pretty good. I have printed out about 800 pages of info. And it is not all.

When you sign up, you sign up for a model, year, engine type and such.

"Has anyone out there used the AllData manuals?"

    Yep.

"Is the DIY manual the same as the Pro manual, but just limited to a single vehicle?"

Dunno fer sure, but that sounds right.

For the most part, it appears that the All-Data information appears to be lifted straight from Volvo resources. There is the occasional -- rare, actually -- admonishion to "look it up in the VADIS system," but for the most part, it seems to cover things pretty well. Between having All-Data, plus the UK-spec Haynes manual, plus an OBDII test tool, I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to handle whatever I'm likely to be facing.
