850 radio reset after battery died 850

My battery died and I accidentally entered the wrong code 3 times. Now the radio says "off" and will not let me enter the correct code. Is there a way to reset to the point where I can enter the correct code and get the radio back?

    According to the manual you have to leave the key in the #1 position with everything off except the radio for 2 hours. The radio will then unlock again and you can enter the code.

    disconnecting the battery would probably do the trick
