Front Strut Top Bushing - How to replace? 850

Dear All

Does anyone know how I can replace the front strut bushing? It is the one at the top of the strut. Is it a long job and do I need a re-alignment of the suspension geometry?

Thanks
Matt 1993 850 GLT auto.

I've done it myself, and I would not recommend doing it without the proper tools. There is a lot of tension on the stock spring assembly, and without a spring compression tool one could seriously hurt themselves.
Most auto stores have this type of tool for rent.
One thing to think about too is replacing the bearing assembly while you have the strut appart. Depending on where you get them, they cost approx. $90 to $120 each.

Can you not use a floor jack under the struts to ease the tension until they fall out? I have done it with regular springs on a Firebird and it worked fine.

    Yep- it's a job.

You've got to pull the struts off the car to get to it.

Unless you know how to do it- get a competent mechanic to do the work.
