Factory alarm S70

Hi.

Own a 98 S70 glt. What triggers the alarm? I know if the windows are down and you pull the lock fron the outside it goes off. What other items set it off? Will smashing a window or pushing/bumping the car activate it as well?

thanks

JW,

The factory alarm will only sound when the doors, hood, or trunk is open. It
won't sound the alarm if the glass is smashed, nor will it sound the alarm, if the car thief comes with a tow truck, UNLESS you get the optional glass-breakage sensor and the other sensor ( damn, forgot the name ) that will sound the alarm if someone tried to tow away your Volvo. For now, my factory alarm will do, but down the road when it will have to be parked outside to make room
for my new car, then I will get the glass-breakage sensor and the other sensor.
Both sensors will run you roughly $ 300-$400 Cdn installed, as quoted by my
Volvo dealership.

Hope this helps !

JW,

I might to dig out the quotation given to me by my dealer ( all prices in CDN ).

Glass Breakage Sensor
$ 155.38 ( Part )
$ 57.00 ( Labour )

Level Sensor
$ 259.79 ( Part )
$ 20.00 ( Labour )

The service manager told me that the labour is a rough estimate, as the glass
breakage sensor takes 0.6 hrs to install and the level sensor takes 0.2 hrs to
install it. Their hourly rate is $ 90.00/hr.

For now, wherever I don't feel safe, I use " The Club " steering wheel lock, as
well as the " The AutoLock ". And with common sense, I always parked in a well
lit area or/ an area where people walk by often.

Hope this helps !

Mr. Glass,

Would be glad to help you find the P/N. The quotation that they faxed to me only states the part name and ist costs ( both install and part itself ), but
when I come back from my Canada Day long weekend vacation ( leaving in 2 hrs, taking my parents' yacht out to sea with my girlfriend ), I will be meeting a client and I know that there is a Volvo dealership next to his office, so I'll
pop in there either before or after and get the part numbers for you.

I should get back to you by Wednesday at the latest ! ...

Have a good weekend ( and for those of you in Canada, HAPPY CANADA DAY to you ) !!!!!

Cheers !

Sorry, typo ... S70

The first sentence should read

" I managed to dig out the quotation given to me by my dealer ( all prices in CDN ). "

NOT
===

" I might to dig out the quotation given to me by my dealer ( all prices in CDN ). "

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused !
