Arm rest on drivers door, how to fix/replace 850 1997

The vinyl on the drivers door is cracked and has small holes where my elbow rests. What do you suggest to fix/repair the damage. This car has over 182000 miles, so I am not supprised to see the damage, but it us uncomfortable to rest my are there. I would perfer not to replace the door panel, but replacment is not out of the question. Is the door panel avaliable from Volvo? Any ideas for repairing the damage?

Thanks,
Stuart

I would do what Gerald C reccomends and check out the salvage yards. The panels come off in no time. You remove the plastic handle off the door handle and there are about 6 or so screws along the botom of the door. There are few plastic clips towards the top of the panel, so just pull slowly. Also, be careful not to pull too far from the door frame, you'll need to unplug the speaker first before totally removing.

I'm sure that Volvo can sell you a new part, but be prepared for some $$$. As an alternative, you may want to try a salvage search. You can do this online at http://car-part.com. Search for your year and model, then select Interior Panels/Misc for the category.
