Selling 95 854T -- Need Help w/Pricing 850

Well, after nearly six years I am ready to sell my '95 850 Turbo. As much as I have enjoyed driving this car, I am at the point where I can not continue to drop $200-300 everytime I visit the shop. My biggest sore points are the brakes and tires and I constantly worry that there will be a problem with the turbo or the AC that is going to drain my bank account.

As I try to set a price, however, I seem to be having a hard time getting some agreement with the Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book sites being as much as $1800 apart! I would appreciate feedback regarding a fair and reasonable price assuming that I am going to sell this directly and not trade it in to a dealer.

Vehicle Details

1995 Volvo 850 Turbo Sedan
CD Changer
Cold Weather Package
TRACS
Heated Front Seats
Rear Spoiler
Amethyst (purple blue - looks really nice when detailed)
105K miles

* Well maintained - complete service records
* Oil changed regularly with MOA at every service interval
* Recent service includes induction service and flushes for transmission, cooling and brakes
* Toyo Proxes tires
* Leather interior in very good condition except for wear on driver's seat
* Excellent paint & exterior - no defects aside from a scuff mark on the front bumper

I was hoping to get $8000 for this. I am being reasonable?

Thanks!

By the way, if anyone is interested the car is located in Fairfax, Virginia

Selling 95 854T -- Need Help w/Pricing 850

Earlier this month (7/03), I paid $9,900 for my '95 850T, which has only 34,000 miles on it. I bought from a dealer in Connecticticut, but I was able to determine it was previously owned by a very old guy who only drove it only to church. Mine is mint throughout, and has all the same options as yours, except for the CD changer and spoiler. Personally, as someone whose just purchased the same car you're selling, I'd be very reluctant to pay even $6,500 for a turbo car with 100,000 miles.

Then again, I'm only a new Volvo owner and have not [yet] gotten caught up in the whole mystique.

Good Luck.

P.S. As I think about your concerns over looming repair costs, I'm wondering whether I should pick up your car for parts!

'95 850T, 35,000 mi.

Selling 95 854T -- Need Help w/Pricing 850

I have a 95 855t with 92,000 in near excellent condition I've been trying to sell since January. The current listing is for $8500. Not a single call.

I posted about this on this forum and the 740 forum 2 weeks ago. The used car market is horrible if you're trying to sell. Too many dealer incentives on new cars, thousands of 2000/2001 models coming in off lease etc.

Book value means nothing now. It's a total buyers market.

Sorry to tell it straight but I'm in the same boat.

Regards,

I just got a '94 850 turbo with a bit more miles than yours but in great condition w/ a new turbo (no tracs or deck lid spoiler though) for $3000. I'm in NoVa too.
