CD changer error after head change(850) 850 1994

I did a radio head swap on my 1994 850 turbo wagon with an identical (sc-810?) radio. The cd changer was working before the swap, but now I get an "E-03" message any time I try to access the changer. Everything else seems to be working fine (AM/FM/cassette functions). Has anyone seen this before? How can I fix it?

Well, that didn't work. Now I have an E-01 message. No disks were stuck. I tried ejecting the CD cassette, turned the radio on with it out, re-installed it. Now I can't eject the CD cassette and I get an E-01. I think I'll check the cables again. However...any more suggestions?

CD changer error after head change(850) 850 1995

I had similar experience with my radio (SC-710). I had Alpine Changer installed myself. Then the original radio's LEDs were out, dealer replaced me another SC-710 but my changer was no longer working after the replacement. Dealer couldn't figure out the cause. They kept on replacing the radio. The second replacement worked right away with my Alpine changer. It could be the signal level from the radio to changer.

CD changer error after head change(850) 850 1994

I used to get error E-03 quite a lot.

When yo did the head change, was a cd still in the changer in the 'play' position?

I first encountered it when I was listening to cd, parked up, turned off car, but decided to eject cassette to retrieve cd's. I replaced empty cassette. When I re-started car, changer tried to load a cd which wasnt there, and jammed. Answer was to remove changer, take top off, and manually eject cassette, re-load and when changer back all was ok. Since then, have got E-03 about 5 times, each time was a disc which wouldnt return to the changer.

Fix was the same, remove changer, take of the top, thin screwdriver, gently coax cd back to cassette, and manually eject - there's a small arm at back of where cassette is, just push with screwdriver.

Mine now has error E-01, which I couldnt overcome, and had to replace the changer!!!
