Gerald:

Thanks for the answer, I saw that port but did not dare to open it.

Do I need a torgue wrench to open and close the cover, if so, what is the recommended torque?

The plastic cover you pop off. The guage or recharge line is a pull back clip. No thread or anything. somewhat like a tire valve. Very simple.

Not on the 850. The plastic cap definitely unscrews, not just pops-off.

sorry my mistake. Havent taken mine off in awhile since a/c works fine.
but I know all it does is keep dirt/dust out.

You never need a torque wrench to open! And frankly, since it's just a plastic cap, just apply a reasonable amount of tightening when putting it back on; i.e., don't "dog" it down! The refrigerant is sealed via the check-valve beneath, of course.
